Even for summer, it was uncharacteristically hot. The idea of going down to the beach had been tossed out the window. The walk out in the scorching sun wasn’t worth it. There were some people that were willing to make the trek through town, but not Ryan and Trinity. After a phone call and the flip of a coin, it had been decided that the blonde boy would take the short trip over to his pink haired friend’s house. Of course, that meant sneaking out without his parents knowing, but he had become an expert at that by now. Currently, Ryan was laying on Trinity’s bed, completely sprawled out. He was very much so enjoying the air conditioning. Under normal circumstances, the older and shorter of the two would have more than likely joined him in a make out session, sex, cuddling, whatever. Right now though, with the temperature. it was outside, neither teenager even wanted to think about being that close to someone.

Trinity, after realizing just how hot it was outside, hadn’t bothered to get dressed up in his usual clothes. Instead, he was in rather normal clothing, just shorts and a t-shirt. His hair was pulled up in a tiny ponytail. Had he been in the presence of someone he wasn’t as close with, he might have went to the length of getting all dressed up in one of his dresses and the wig. His expression was a tired, slightly sad one. Trinity’s mind was off somewhere else, some much so that he hadn’t noticed when Ryan walked up to the desk that he had been sitting. The blonde boy grabbed a bag that he had thrown on the desk when he first arrived and fished several different pills out of it. While he was taking his medication like only a professional could, Ryan’s green eyes remained fixed on Trinity, a rather puzzled expression on his face.

“You okay Trin,” he asked after swallowing down the last of the pills. The question brought the pink haired boy’s mind back to the present. Of course Ryan would notice. He always noticed when something was wrong. It was one of those things that came with having a friendship that ran as deep as theirs did.

“I give up,” the pink haired teen said in a rather exasperated manner. Ryan gave him another confused look before pulling another chair over and placing it so that he could sit facing his companion.

“Give up on what?”

“Everything.” A look of knowing passed over the blonde’s face, but before he could say anything Trinity spoke up again. “Look at me. I’m so small and I look like a girl even when I’m not dressing up.” It had always been like this, a cycle between the two of them. By some miracle, one was always there when the other needed them most.

“I think that you’re pretty amazing, if that counts for anything,” Ryan said as he gave Trinity a sympathetic look.

“Sometimes I think that you’re the only one that thinks that. I mean, what about that dance that we had at school right before we left? You were off making out with god knows who, while the most that anyone else would do with me is dance. Not even slow dance either. Most guys that are into guys don’t like me because I look like a girl and most girls just want to be friends and nothing more.”

“You should have told me. I would have made Matt dance with you,” the green eyed teen said in a joking manner. It was clear Trinity was not in the mood for joking though. Ryan quickly stopped his half hearted laugh and went back to listening to Trinity.

“That’s not the point! Why can’t I be like you? I mean, you’re really skinny and everything, but you’re clearly a guy.” Without saying a thing, Ryan reached over and pulled Trinity into a tight hug. He didn’t like it, seeing his best friend upset. It make something inside of him hurt. Ryan knew that Trinity felt the same way about him.

“Then those people don’t know what they’re missing, because you are one of the most beautiful and attractive people that I have ever met. I guess maybe I shouldn’t be complaining if some people stay away from you just because you’re kind of feminine though. More for me, right?” Even though Ryan was known as one of the biggest sluts at school, he still had gentle and comforting side. More often than not, that side of him came out when he was around Trinity. Not that he would ever admit it, because Ryan rarely ever said that he actually loved anyone, but he did love his pink haired best friend. It was some kind of strange mixture between romantic and platonic love, but it was love nonetheless. “If you want, at the next dance I can make out with you instead.” The single phrase brought a smile to Trinity’s face.

“Only if it gets to be more than making out,” he said with a playful smirk before leaning forward and giving his friend a quick kiss.

“Deal, but only if you promise that you’ll never even think about giving up again.”

Trinity shook his head in agreement, a small smile that was filled with appreciation settling on his face. “Thank you Ryan,” he said as he let out a small sigh. The short conversation had far from fixed what was troubling Trinity, but for now they had made things bearable. Their problems would probably never truly be solved, but as long as they had each other to keep putting band aids on the wounds, it would have to be enough.
Here, I'm already deviating from my plan and writing about random pairings. My excuse? There isn't enough crutchbuddies in the world and I love the pairing.

Arguably, this is one of the worst things that I have ever written. Whatever.

Trinity belongs to :iconroyalhighmess: but you probably already knew that.
